Sommaire: 20 October 2008, Brussels - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, issued the following statement today condemning the suicide bomb attack in Kunduz, Afghanistan and the gunning down of an aid worker in Kabul:
"I condemn in the strongest possible terms the despicable terrorist attack perpetrated in Kunduz today, which killed five Afghan children and two German soldiers and wounded a number of others.
I convey my most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Afghan and German authorities and I hope that the injured will make a swift recovery.
I also condemn the appalling attack against a British woman aid worker who was killed by gunmen in Kabul this morning and I extend my deepest condolences to her family.
I hope that those behind today's attacks will be brought to justice without delay.
The European Union remains fully committed to the long-term support of the people and government of Afghanistan in their efforts to build a stable and democratic future."
