The side event aims at discussing how to promote social security and social protection as part of the promotion of decent work for all in the world.

Social protection is one of the pillars of Decent Work. It is part of the policy response to poverty, ageing and social needs. Ongoing developments is a number of industrialised, emerging and developing countries demonstrate that well designed social protection systems can contribute to productive employment and growth as well as to social cohesion. How to set up and reinforce such social protection systems? How to combine equity and efficiency? How to extend social protection coverage? How to address the challenges of informal economy? How to incorporate social protection in development strategies? How to promote partnerships to provide appropriate support to efforts underway?

A sandwich lunch will be available to the participants before the event
