Darfur/Sudan: EUHR Solana condemns killing of five African Union soldiers

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made today the following statement condemning the killing of African Union soldiers in Darfur:

"I strongly condemn the killing of five African Union soldiers serving in the Darfur region and I transmit my sincerest and heartfelt condolences to their families.

I urge all parties in Darfur to refrain from all violence and to support the African Union and the United Nations in their difficult peacekeeping task in Darfur. I reiterate the full commitment of the European Union to support the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) in its important work in Darfur."
