EU Presidency Explanation of Position on UN General Assembly 60th session, Second Committee: Item 55 (a) Groups of countries in special situations: Third United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries: Introduction: EU OP6, by the UK Mission to the UN, on behalf of the European Union, New York

Mr Chairman,

The European Union wishes to introduce the document A/C.2/60/L.69. This text has been carefully formulated to take in to account the concerns of other delegation and is the fifth compromise proposal tabled by the European Union in an effort to seek consensus. It would replace OP6 as set out in A/C.2/60/L.32/REV1

The European Union urges all UN member states to vote in favour of this amendment.
