Pedro Serrano was designated acting Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in January 2010.
Prior to this designation he was the Head of the New York Liaison Office of the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union to the United Nations since July 2007.
Before that he spent two years as Director of DGE IX, Civilian Crisis Management and two years as Deputy Head of the Private Office of the Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for the CFSP, Dr. Javier Solana.
Prior to joining the Council Secretariat, Mr Serrano accumulated 18 years of experience as a Spanish diplomat, serving both abroad (Spanish Permanent Representations to the EU, the UN, Spanish Embassies in Tanzania, Cuba, General Consulate of Spain in Frankfurt, Germany) and in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
