Summary: 21 September 2008, Brussels - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made the following comments after the bomb attack in front of the Marriott Hotel yesterday in Islamabad, in which dozens of people were killed:
"I condemn in the strongest possible terms the despicable bomb attack in Islamabad, in which dozens of people were killed and dozens more were injured.
I wish to convey my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the Pakistani government. My thoughts are also with those who were injured, to whom I wish a prompt recovery.
I also want to express my sympathy to the Czech government on the death of the Czech ambassador in Pakistan, killed in the terrorist attack."
