EUHR Solana met Serbian President Tadic

Summary: 3 September 2008, Brussels - Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), met Boris TADIC, President of Serbia, on Wednesday, 3 September 2008.

The meeting provided an occasion to exchange views on EU-Serbia relations and the latest developments in Serbia and in the region. Mr Solana noted that the relations between EU and Serbia were in good shape and he expressed his optimism regarding Serbia's path towards EU integration. In this context the High Representative congratulated President Tadic on the arrest of Radovan Karadzic, underlining that this was a great step forward. Mr Solana also expressed his wish for a constructive approach and continued dialogue on the EU engagements in the region, including the EU presences in Kosovo. President Tadic was accompanied by Prime Minister, Mirko Cvetkovic and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vuk Jeremic.
