EU Presidency Declaration on the events which occurred at Kalma camp in Sudan

The European Union condemns the intervention by Sudanese forces at the Kalma displaced persons camp in South Darfur on 25 August 2008, which killed dozens of people and injured many more, mostly women and children.

The European Union urgently calls on the Sudanese government to shed full light on that intervention, respect international humanitarian law and not interfere with UNAMID action.

It requests that the injured be evacuated as soon as possible.
