Burma/Myanmar: EU declaration on situation

The EU urges the authorities in Burma/Myanmar to respect those rights, and above all not to use violence against people who are committed to non-violence.

This is a new opportunity to tackle the wider problems of Burma/Myanmar. We call on all concerned in Burma/Myanmar to go forward in a genuine process of reconciliation and negotiation which brings together all the people of Burma/Myanmar.
