Democratic Republic of Congo: EUHR Solana concerned about situation

Summary: Democratic Republic of Congo: EUHR Solana concerned about situation (28 March 2007: Brussels)

Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), spoke to President Kabila on the telephone today about the latest developments in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He spoke to Senator Bemba a few days ago.

Mr Solana expressed concern at the latest developments in the DRC, where the parties have resorted to violence to resolve their differences. He called on them to use reason and dialogue to reach a negotiated outcome, based on consensus, to enable the DRC to return to the path to stability and prosperity to which the Congolese people aspire.
