Summary: Declaration by the EU Presidency on the application of specific measures to combat terrorism (Brussels: 31 March 2006)

The Acceding Countries Bulgaria and Romania, the Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia* and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the Countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, and the EFTA countries Iceland and Liechtenstein, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, declare that they share the objectives of Common Position 2005/936/CFSP of 21 December 2005 updating Common Position 2001/931/CFSP on the application of specific measures to combat terrorism and repealing Common Position 2005/847/CFSP and of Common Position 2006/231/CFSP of 21 December 2005 updating Common Position 2001/931/CFSP on the application of specific measures to combat terrorism and repealing Common Position 2005/936/CFSP.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to those two Common Positions.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.

* Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
