EUHR Solana appoints personal representative in Pristina

Summary: EUHR Solana appoints personal representative in Pristina (2 December 2005: Brussels)

EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, has decided today to appoint Mr Torbjörn Sohlström as his personal representative in Pristina to replace next week Mr. Fernando Gentilini, who served as Mr. Solana's Personal Representative in Kosovo since April 2004.

Mr. Sohlström is a Swedish diplomat and a member of the EU Council Secretariat's Policy Unit since 2001. He has broad Balkan experience, including as Head of Cabinet of the EU Special Representative in Skopje.

Mr. Sohlstrom will cooperate closely with the all Kosovo leaders, institutions and communities as well as with UNMIK, KFOR and the rest of the EU's international partners in Kosovo. He will also contribute to the further strengthening of the EU presence in Pristina and assist the EU Representative to the Kosovo future status process, Mr Stefan Lehne.
