Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) made the following statement after the remarks attributed to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran:

"If correctly reported, this position is unacceptable. We are at a moment when the prospects of a lasting settlement in the Middle East, based on the principles of a two-state solution, are better than for many years. All responsible leaders should be working hard for this goal."
