EUHR Solana condemns assassination of Egyptian diplomat in Iraq

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), has sent a message to the Egyptian President expressing his deepest shock and sympathy on learning of the assassination of Ihab el-Sharif, Ambassador-designate to Iraq, who was kidnapped in Baghdad last weekend:

"I wish to express my deepest shock on learning of the assassination of Ihab el-Sharif. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and to the government and people of Egypt and I express my utter condemnation of these barbaric acts of kidnapping and murder."
