EUHR Solana condemns upsurge in violence in Iraq

Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), made the following statement today in reaction to increased violence in Iraq resulting in significant human casualties, in particular today's lethal bombing in the Iraqi town of Irbil: "I strongly condemn the upsurge of terrorist attacks against innocent civilians in Iraq over the last weeks. Recent suicide bombings have resulted in tragic loss of human life.

Today's terrorist attack in Irbil has left scores of victims and wounded people. I offer my deepest sympathy and my condolences to the families of the victims of this attack, as well as to the Government of Iraq."
