Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), called today Rosa Otunbayeva, the acting Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
The High Representative encouraged the Foreign Minister and the Kyrgyz Government to follow a democratic course and engage in a policy of national dialogue and reconciliation.
Javier Solana asked the acting Foreign Minister to pursue stable and friendly relations with its neighbours. He also offered the support of the European Union.
The High Representative is in contact with other international actors including Russia, the United States and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Javier Solana knows and have worked with Rosa Otunbayeva in her previous positions which have included, Kyrgyzstan's ambassador to the United States, the United Nations Representative to Abkhazia, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan and leader of the Kyrgyzstan opposition.
