Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), welcomed today the appointment of a new Palestinian government.


"I congratulated today Prime Minister Qurei on the appointment of a new government and I also want to congratulate the Palestinian people, as well as President Abbas on this important occasion.

I offer my best wishes for success to the members of the new cabinet, who can be sure of my personal support and that of the European Union.

After the internationally recognised election of President Mahmud Abbas, the Palestinian people has again proven its attachment to democracy with the appointment of this new government supported by its Parliament
".
