Biography of Head of Delegation in Rome

Ambassador Yves GAZZO,
Head of the Delegation of the European Union
to the Holy See, to the Order of Malta and to the Organisations of the United Nations in Rome



As per 1 September 2009, Mr. Yves Gazzo has been appointed new Head of the European Union Delegation to the Holy See, the Order of Malta and the UN Organisations in Rome. He will present his credentials to these organisations in the following weeks.

Before being appointed in Rome, Mr Gazzo was the Head of the European Commission Representation in France (Paris) from November 2003 until August 2009. He was also Head of the European Commission Delegation in Jordan, Yemen, the Philippines and Ethiopia.

Mr Gazzo is married and has five children. He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
