Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, will participate in the annual EU-US summit that will take place on Saturday 26 June 2004, in Dromoland Castle (Ireland) .
The EU will be represented by the President-in-office of the European Council, Taoiseach Bertie AHERN, assisted by the High Representative Javier SOLANA, the President of the European Commission, Romano PRODI, and the Commissioner for external relations Chris PATTEN. The U.S.A. will be represented by President George BUSH who will be accompanied by Secretary of State Colin POWELL.
The summit will allow for an exchange of views on a number of international issues, including Iraq, the Middle East and counter-terrorism measures. Over lunch summit participants will discuss ways of fostering economic growth. The summit will conclude with a press conference in the early afternoon. The signature of an agreement on satellite navigation systems (the US GPS and the EU's Galileo system) is also scheduled to take place in the margins of the summit.
