Javier SOLANA, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, will address the EUROMED mid-term Ministerial Meeting, organised under the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (also known as the Barcelona Process), on Thursday, 6 May 2004, in Dublin. A working dinner will precede it on 5 May.
Participants (Foreign Ministers from partner states, including Israel and the Palestinian Authority) will address recent developments in the Middle East peace process, following the meeting of the "Quartet" yesterday in New York.
Moreover, the meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss the contribution and relation of the Barcelona process to the EU strategic partnership with the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and to the European Neighbourhood Policy.
Ministers will also look at how to move forward on the establishment of a Euro-Med Foundation to promote the dialogue between cultures and civilisations in the region.

Under the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership one formal ministerial meeting is organised every 18 months, with informal meetings (now called mid-term) being held by the intervening Presidencies. The last formal meeting was held in Naples on 2-3 December 2003.
