
Summary: November 10, 2003: EU-Indonesia trade support programme (Brussels)
The European Commission has approved €8.5 million for a programme to support the economic and social recovery of Indonesia by improving bilateral trade flows with the EU, thus stimulating growth and contributing to poverty alleviation. In order to achieve its objective, the initiative aims to help foster a business environment favourable to enhancing EU-Indonesia economic relations. A substantial amount of technical assistance will be provided to this end.
In particular, the programme will focus on the following technical and regulatory issues : WTO Capacity Building, harmonisation of EU Standards, research and development institutes and fishing laboratories.
