
Summary: September 22, 2003: Ministerial session of the 58th United National General Assembly (New York, 23-26 September)
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is to speak on behalf of the European Union on the morning of 23 September after the opening of the debate by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini have numerous meetings scheduled throughout the week, both on the level of the EU Presidency as well as on a national level.
On Monday the 22nd the Prime Minister will participate in a conference of Heads of State and Government on terrorism organised by the Norwegian Prime Minister and by Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel.
On Wednesday the 24th Berlusconi and Kofi Annan will sign a declaration on EU-UN cooperation in crisis management.
On Friday the 26th the Quartet (USA, EU, Russia and UN) will meet on the Foreign Minister level to examine the situation in the Middle East and the initiatives to be undertaken.
