Minister Frattini's condolences for the death of Swedish Minister Lindh

Summary: September 11, 2003: Minister Frattini's condolences for the death of Swedish Minister Lindh

On behalf of the European Union and Acceding Countries, Minister for Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini has expressed - with great sadness and dismay - his profoundest condolences to the Government of Sweden for the death of Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Anna Lindh, victim of yesterday afternoon's attack.

Minister Frattini recalled his Swedish colleague's deep European commitment and attentive and generous contribution to the European Union's communal activity, such as the informal meeting of EU Ministers for Foreign Affairs held this past weekend at Riva del Garda."This is a deep loss for all of Europe - Frattini said - and I hope that those responsible for this brutal assassination will be promptly identified and punished".
