Bolivia - Commission supports international coast to coast road connections

Summary: September 9, 2003: Bolivia : Commission approves €38 million to support international coast to coast road connections (Brussels)


The European Commission has approved €38 million for the construction of the Santa Cruz - Puerto Suárez road in Bolivia. This road will link the west and east of Bolivia making road transport communication also possible with Brazil.

The objective of this action is to promote the economic integration between Bolivia and Brazil and to reach an effective regional integration between the Andean Community and Mercosur countries.

The Santa Cruz Puerto Suárez road is a dirt track, which makes traffic impossible during the rainy season.
