Immediately after the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action (PfA), Heads of Governments of the European Union (EU) agreed on annual reviews of the implementation of the Platform. This has led to the development of indicators and benchmarking, thus making the annual monitoring process more focused and structured. Sets of indicators have been developed under subsequent EU Presidencies in the following areas: Ms. Eftihia Bekou-Balta, General Secretary for Equality, Greece
Ms. Hanna Onwen, Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Finland
Ms Sophie Del Corso, Service des Droits de Femmes et de l'Égalité, France
Ms. Carine Joly, Direction de l'Égalité des Chances, Belgium
Ms. Kira Appel, Gender Equality Department, Denmark and
Ms. Marie Donnelly, European Commission will present the EU progress and review the implementation of the PfA.
