Javier Solana, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, will take part in the Second Petersberg Ministerial Conference on Afghanistan organised by the German Government on Monday, 2nd December 2002.
The German Chancellor will open the Conference which will comprise -among others- the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. Brahimi and Foreign Minister Fischer.
The First anniversary of the Bonn Agreement provides a good opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved and to set the main priorities for the coming period in Afghanistan.
A press conference is scheduled at 16h00.
