The 2002 Lorenzo Natali Prize for Journalism

Summary: July 16, 2002: The 2002 Lorenzo Natali Prize for Journalism (Brussels)

The application procedure for the 2002 Lorenzo Natali Prize for Journalism: Excellence in Reporting Human Rights, Democracy and Development is now open. This year five prizes each worth EUR 10,000 will be awarded to one print/on-line journalist working for the local media in each of the following regions:

Articles submitted should focus on human rights and democracy as vital aspects of development and have been published in the general media between 1st January 2001 and 31st December 2001. Articles can be submitted until 23rd September 2002.

As in 1998, 1999, and 2001 we have called upon the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) to promote and co-ordinate the event. An independent jury made up of media, development and human rights specialists will examine the articles submitted and select the winners.

Attached you will find a copy of the 2002 Lorenzo Natali brochure including the rules, the application form and background information about the Prize in English. This information is also available in French, Spanish and Arabic on the IFJ's web site at http://www.ifj.org/hrights/lorenzo/inpr.html
